Vueling Airlines — is a Spanish airline founded in 2004. It was created by several investors, including Iberia Airlines, which has acquired a significant stake in the holding company. “Vueling” comes from the Spanish word “vuelo”, translated as “flight”.

History of Vueling Airlines
The first flight took place on July 1, 2004 from Barcelona to Ibiza. At the beginning of its operations, the low-cost carrier offered flights only within Spain, but soon expanded its network and started international transportation to various European countries.
In the following years, Vueling Airlines became one of the leading low-cost airlines in Europe. The airline flies to 160 destinations, including popular tourist destinations such as Rome, Paris and London.
In 2009, it merged with Clickair, another Spanish carrier.
In 2013, International Airlines Group (IAG), the holding company that owns Iberia Airlines and British Airways, acquired Vueling Airlines. This allowed it to expand operations and collaborate with other firms in the group.
The low-cost carrier continues to operate as a low-cost airline, offering affordable ticket prices and a wide network of routes across Europe. The company is based at Barcelona Airport and has branches in various European cities.
Has won several awards throughout its history, including being named “Best Low Cost Airline” by Skytrax in 2017.

Classes of service
Vueling Airlines offers three fare options: Basic, Optima and Excellence.
Basic tariff
An affordable option, meals and luggage are included at an additional cost. The distance between rows in the cabin is quite narrow, which may be uncomfortable for tall, overweight or pregnant passengers. A choice of seats is available at an additional cost.
Optima tariff
Offers the following benefits: instant check-in, early departure options, free baggage allowance (up to 23 kg) and free choice of cabin seats including front and back rows.
Excellence tariff
A premium class of service that offers additional benefits and comfort. Passengers receive access to airport business lounges, priority boarding, increased baggage limit, full flexibility to change or cancel reservations and a simpler boarding procedure.
Vueling Airlines loyalty programs
The airline offers a loyalty program called Vueling Club. Through it, passengers can receive various benefits and rewards for their flights with the airline.
Program Features:
- Customers can earn Avios, the loyalty program currency, when buying and using Vueling Airlines tickets and when using the services of program partners. The number of Avios depends on distance, class of service and fare
- Avios can be used to pay for tickets of the Spanish carrier, receive discounts on additional services such as seat selection and luggage.
- The program offers several membership levels: Basic, Premium and Premium Plus. The higher the membership level, the more privileges and benefits a passenger receives: priority check-in, additional baggage limit, free seat selection.
- Vueling Club members can receive special offers, discounts and promotions that are available only to members of the program.
- Vueling Club has partnerships with other companies: hotels, car rental companies, other air carriers, which allow passengers to earn and use Avios when using their services.
To join the program, you need to register on the official website. When booking tickets, you should indicate your program membership number to start earning Avios and receiving benefits.
Baggage rules and regulations
The number, size and weight of checked-in baggage depends on the class of service, route and membership in the loyalty program.
Passengers who have purchased Basic fare tickets are not allowed to take baggage free of charge. Optima tickets include one suitcase up to 23 kg, while Excellence tickets include two 23 kg suitcases.
Plane check-in instructions
There are two options available for check-in: online and offline. Online check-in allows you to complete the process in advance, and after arriving at the airport you can proceed to the baggage drop-off counter. If you prefer offline check-in, you will need to visit special counters at the airport, which start working 2-3 hours before departure.
